Fraser Island Day Three

One our last day on the island, a group of us (Mike, Harry, Lauren, Olivia, Amanda, Madeline, hippy Jesus and myself) got up at 5:30am to walk down to the beach to watch the sun rise. Geoff was awake and drove us down and watched the sunrise with us. It was pretty amazing and the sky was perfect for it. It was a great start to the day. Afterwards, we had breakfast as a group, cleaned and packed up and got into the vehicles for a quick morning dip in Eli Creek. The combination of the sun rise and the creek were surreal and magical. We also had a dingo greet us at the creek.

We then drove to the Lake Wabby area. We parked and walked about 1km through jungle along a sand trail to a massive sand blow. It looked like the desert was taking over the island. This is where we learned that the sand is slowly spreading and uprooting trees, burning them underneath. We walked through the sand blow and down the back edge to the lake. It is a green lake and there were cat fish swimming around it in. We swam and played catch in the beautiful water. Mathias, Zoe, Freya and I buried Harry's legs in the sand and then Freya wanted hers buried. The sand was very fine. We then walked back up the edge of the sand blow and another 1km back to the vehicles. We stopped to have lunch and then boarded the ferry back to the main land.

That night at the hostel, there was live music and every from the whole tour group came to hang out (and get free beer). Geoff joined us as well. The man playing the music used to be a tour guide and was very friendly. He played guitar and sang. Hippie Jesus then brought out his didgeridoo and they jammed together which turned out pretty awesome. Then one of the Swedish guys from out group played the guitar and sang while the musician joined in on the drum. Then Henry did some beat boxing the musician played the harmonica along with it and it turned out pretty awesome. Then Henry, the musician and Hippy Jesus jammed together with beat boxing, the drum and the didgeridoo, respectively. That was also pretty amazing. It was a wonderful way to end the amazing trip and spend the last bit of time together with our new friends.
