Byron Bay

Byron Bay has been an experience. The hostel has a nice big kitchen and there is a van that takes you into town and back every hour. We have a balcony outside our room, which we used a lot. There is an orange tabby cat, named Ginger, that sleeps on the chairs of our balcony. We see her every morning. We even joined us for breakfast one morning. The beach across from the hostel is very beautiful. Today we watched a wiener dog chase around a big dog on the beach, it was pretty cute. We walked to the look out point on the cape but headed back before we reached to light because we were getting pretty hungry. The beaches are amazing. The sand is velvety and clear of rocks and trash. There are thick areas of tree along the beach which makes it feel secluded and jungle-ish.

There are some neat shops along the Main Street area. Mike got himself a pair of Thai fishermen pants which he is in love with. Yesterday they had a little market setup outside the environmental centre (which is really a little hut) with food, homemade jewellery, leather work and live music. It was very unique and interesting. We then caught an art and music show at the local theatre. They has very beautiful and inspirational art. There was a lot of sacred geometry work and the focus was spiritual experiences. I got my face painted. She did an amazing job and was inspired by the shirt I was wearing. We only stayed for one artist talk. He is a graffiti artist and a rapper called "Yuin Huzami" out of Brisbane. We are hopping to see his gallery when we are there. He talked about the rebellion of graffiti and how the art form of it (rather than just tagging) can really add colour to "grey" cities. He is a very deep man. Sadly, we were not allowed to take pictures :(
