Last day in Brisbane

Our last day in Brisbane we spent at Tamborine mountain. It was about an hour and a half drive out of town. It was beautiful. The area was more rain forest like and there were some gorgeous waterfalls as we drove up with Sue.

We stopped at an activity park called Thunderbird Park. They had a camp site, laser tag, walkways in the trees and rock "mining". We say some pretty big pieces of amethyst. We went to the rock shop and saw some pretty cool rocks. A family had just "mined" some rocks (which they just picked off the group in a specific area) and then a guy went through them to pick out the rock that could be cut. They were similar to geodes but didn't have crystals inside. The rock inside almost looked like petrified wood. It was pretty neat.

We then went to have coffee and a snack. We went to a restaurant called The Polish Place which had an amazing view. When we walked in the parking lot there was a large lizard sunning himself. He was huge! We got to see some colourful birds up close. Sue was telling us they normally come and sit on the table but they didn't that time. We also got to see and hear a kookaburra bird. We had some very wonderful coffee and crispy apple pancakes.

After our snack, we walked around to some little shops. We went to a very neat crystal store but everything was really expensive. We went into a fairy store, which is every little girls dream. It was pink, full of fairies and dress up clothes, make up, fairy wing and glitter. The lady at the counter was even dressed up as a fairy. They had a room downstairs filled with toadstool mushrooms you could sit on and a change room with dresses for little girls. It was pretty cool. We also went into a German cuckoo clock store which was amazing! They had walls covered in cuckoo clocks and grandfather clocks. They also had nesting dolls and beer mugs.

After this, we stopped at Graham's brothers house to meet him and the dog. The dog is named Ted. We played with the dog for a bit and then had a cup of tea and shared stories of Canadian winter. It was been pretty interesting how almost everyone we have met has a hard time wrapping their head around how cold it is and how much snow there is back home.
