Brisbane with Sue

We left Cairns and flew to Brisbane to spend a week with Sue, Graham and Eric. It was a great week with them. We were able to have some lazy days which we needed. Sue took us on some adventures and Graham took us for a Saturday afternoon drive which was wonderful. We got to see some country side outside of Brisbane and into NSW. The country side is absolutely beautiful.

On Tuesday, we went to Natural Bridge park. It was a stunning area. It was a subtropical forest that was very beautiful and reminded me a lot of the Daintree. It was great after leaving Cairns since Brisbane is not as lush. We did the full walk and took tons of pictures. There was a waterfall though a hole in a cave. The area was also home to glow worms and bats, but we didn't see any. The trees were very majestic and quite large. We also managed to see some cute yellow birds fluttering around in the leaves. After our lovely walk, we went for lunch at a cute cafe up the road. The made some fantastic scones. We then drove into NSW to Kingscliff to see Trevor and Jeanette, Graham's  brother and sister-in-law. They were camping next to the ocean. It was a very beautiful sound and they got to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean every night. We shared a cup of tea and stories. It was a very lovely visit and they are such nice people.

Mike and I did some wandering around downtown Brisbane trying to find a graffiti art gallery. We couldn't find it but we had a fun time seeing more of the city. We also hit up a yoga class. It was pretty awesome. $22 each for the class which got us 90 minutes of yoga plus dinner afterwards. It is a reply neat idea to have the meal after. We set up tables and sat on cushions on the floor and got to meet and talk with everyone in the class as well as the instructors. The food was amazing and it was all you can eat Indian food. It was a nice treat.

On the weekend, Graham drove us around to Beaudesert and Broonah. We stopped at a cafe that was very cool. They use a mix of china cups and saucers for all hot drink, old antique chairs and tables. It is all mix matched but works really well. Their pecan pie and coffee were great. They had been only open for a week. I think Sue and Graham have a new weekend coffee stop. We also went to properties that Graham's work owns. We got to see some modern houses and he took us on a walk through of one. The layout and design is so different than Canadian houses and their yards are quite big. We also got to see an area that became a dam during the drought some years ago but it not hooked up to anything. It is actually quite a beautiful area.

On the Friday we went to the Mind Body and Spirit Festival. It was pretty cool. There were many booths set up with everything from books and musical to reflexology to psychic readings to jewellery. There were also lectures and performances going on all day. We spent the entire day there. I went to various lectures which included non medical treatment of stress, understanding body language, learning about universal symbols and one on crystals. Mike came to most of the same ones and a few other ones. The body language one was fascinating. It was focused on what your body says about your personality as well as health based off the body. There are courses on it which I am very interested in and the instructor also teaches them in Canada, mostly in Edmonton and Calgary! We got ourselves some herbal tea at the festival as well, which is very good. It was a great way to spend a cloudy day.

We had a great time with the Perry's. They are both wonderful people who are very welcoming. We are so grateful that they took the time to show us their beautiful area and treated us to dinner. Sue made us honorary Wallaby fans when we watched the rugby game with her, which was a great experience. I am so very glad to have met them and spent time with them.
