Great Ocean Road Day 1

We got picked up from our hostel in Adelaide for our last big tour. Our bus was very full this time with about 15 of us. Our tour guide was Leith. On the bus we had Marie, Marie Nd two other girls from Germany, Sara from France, Chris, Ellen and Jack from the UK, Kun and Molly from Korea and a family with 2 children from French Polynesia. We drove for about 500km to get to the Grampians. Along the way we got to stop and see a pink lake! It looked pink because of how the salt water in the lakes reacted with the rain. Leith said he had never seen a lake that pink before. the dreamtime story was that the lakes became pink because of the blood shed of the aborginals when white man came. Unfortunately it was raining all day and made everything very wet. We all managed to have a great day inspite of the rain though.

We got to hollow moutain in the Grampian mountain range and went for a hike. It was quite misty and wet so we didn't get to see a lot of the views. We stopped on the way to buy some large black garbage bags to make raincoats for everyone, which was Mike's idea. Everyone was very happy for that. We climbed as a group and took our time because the rocks were slippery. We ended up having a lot of fun and it was a great team building experience for the group. I found that we got to know each other quite well and worked together right away. We hung out in a cave at the top for a bit and took some group pictures and had some laughs. We then climbed back down.

After our climb we drove to a hostel in the middle of the mountain range to stay for the night. It was nice and cozy and there was a fireplace. Mike and I built the fire and everyone put their wet clothes and shoes around it to dry. We helped cook dinner with Leith and then sat around the fire watching crocodile Dundee and drinking beers. We all had a great day.
