Great Ocean Road Day 2

The next morning we had a lovely breakfast and then packed everything up to hit the road again. As we were driving along, we stopped to look at a mob of kangaroos and some emus. It was really neat to see the wild emus grazing in a field. We got back in and drove to Mckenzie falls.

It was pouring rain out and we ran out of black garbage bags so some of us got pretty soaked. I have to say my rain coat from MEC was an amazing purchase! We started at the top of the falls and walked down stairs to get to the bottom. The falls were pretty amazing. At the bottom of the falls, the spray was pretty intense and I am sure we would of gotten soaked by that even without the rain. We then climbed back up and got back on the road.

Our next stop was the Balconies. We walked along a 1km to get to the Balconies. Along the way, we came across a huge male kanagroo grazing. We managed to follow him along the path for awhile and then he took off into the bushes. When we got to the end of the trail, we didn't get to see much from the lookout because of the clouds. The rain had stopped thankfully but it was still quite cloudy. It looked like the world had ended at the point and all that was beyond the clouds was the abyss. We walked back to the bus and got back on the road.

We stopped for lunch and then we went to a little park area that used to be a volcano. We went koala spotting and managed to find some. The ones we saw were actually awake, moving around and climbing. It is pretty rare to see that in the wild since they spent most of their time sleeping. We also got to see some more emus that were brave enough to try and steal food from people.

We kept driving and we went to three more spots. First we went to the bay of martyrs. It was pretty amazing and the rock formations were very cool. We then went to the bay of islands and walked along the beach. It was quite beautiful and everyone had fun playing on the rocks. We then hurried to the twelve apostles to try and catch the sunset. We managed to see some of it but there were still too many clouds. It was a very beautiful spot.

After all of the sight seeing, we headed into our hostel for the night. We all walked across the street for pizza for dinner. The pizza was absolutely amazing and we all had a great time. We headed back to the hostel to have some drinks and listen to music since it was our last night. Jack put on some awesome tunes and we sat around the table talking. Then Ellen and I started talking about yoga at some point, which I then proceeded to demonstrate some poses. Then Marie, Marie, Jack, Chris and Ellen wanted to get involved. We had an impromptu mini yoga lesson. It was a lot of fun and many laughs were had. Leith got in on it too, after some liquid courage and encouragement from the group. He thought we were all absolutely crazy to be doing yoga but had a good time joining in. All in all, it was a great day and night.
